Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Find Your New Best Friend

Our mission is to match pets with their perfect forever family.

Zoey
Zoey Zoey Zoey Zoey Zoey

Meet Zoey!! I don’t know if you’ll find a more perfect lady! Zoey came in February on a transport from Alabama and she’s been the BEST house guest. She has so many good qualities, I’ll try to list them all: Housebroke Spayed 7 years old (past the puppy stage!) Dog friendly Loves to cuddle Walks great on a leash Great with people/kids Doesn’t get into or chew on anything in the house (she likes to collect my shoes in the middle of the living room but doesn’t chew on them) Has bursts of energy but is always more than ready to relax She also has the most beautiful eyes and will give you the sweetest smile! Has not been cat tested. She’s pretty darn perfect!! Although with her age, we think she would do better in a quieter home. Apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Marnie
Marnie Marnie Marnie

Meet Marnie! She is sweet, affectionate but not at all humble. Marnie not only thinks but believes she is the cats meow….and we are inclined to believe her. This pretty dilute calico girly is looking for her new best friend. Marnie loves to be the center of attention and would prefer being the only cat in the home. Marnie is a princess, but she is not rude or mean. She can cohabitate with other well mannered and respectful furry friends. She currently lives with 2 other cats, 2 dogs, and two kids and does fine. Marnie shares the litter box and water bowl well. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped! Our vet thinks Marnie around 2 years old! Apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Chang

A Conversation with Chang Interviewer: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be? Chang: Gentle Giant. Interviewer: That’s 2 words. Chang: Loves food. Interviewer: That’s … also 2 words. Chang: I Love everyone. Interviewer: Let’s move on. Tell us about your life before you came to Pet Tales. Chang: I lived in a shelter in Alabama with my brother and sister. Then one day, my picture was shown to my foster Mom who fell in love with me and agreed to take all 3 of us into her home in Michigan! She thinks that I’ll grow to be the biggest one of my siblings, but notes that I’m also the calmest. My foster Mom has not heard me bark, but I do make little grunty whining sounds when I need something. Interviewer: What would you love to find in a forever home? Chang: …Also, I wag my tail while I’m eating food. And when someone’s holding me. And because I can’t stop. Interviewer: Okaaaay, but what would you love to have in a forever home? Chang: TREATS. ALL THE TREATS. FOOD. And a fenced-in yard, people who will play with me, TOYS, and a warm doggy bed to sleep on. Chang is interested in playing with dogs. He has not been tested with cats. The senior dog in the foster home is not interested in his puppy play, but he would do well with a young dog who’s interested in playing with him. He is great with kids! He will need training to learn basic commands and be the best dog that he can be. Chang is working on house training. Breed: Pit/Boxer Birthday: 12/21/2022 Expected Size Full Grown: 60-80 lbs Fur Color: White with one tan spot near his tail Housetraining: Chang is working on house training. He is neutered, age appropriately vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Sprinkles
SprinklesSprinklesSprinklesSprinklesSprinkles

An Interview with Sprinkles Interviewer: Tell us some things you like to do. Sprinkles: ((cocks head to the side, gives puppy eyes)) Did you see what I did there? Interviewer: … Sprinkles: I made you love me. Interviewer: This is getting weird. Sprinkles: Fine. Things I like to do … chew on my toys, look adorable, cock my head to the side when someone asks a question…like I showed you…AND I put my front paws up all cute to be held. Interviewer: Yes, I did see that. It’s a cute party trick, but tell us something we don’t know. Sprinkles: I’m the smallest of the litter, but I can keep up. I love a good tennis ball and rubbery toys to chew. I was also the first one of my litter to catch onto housetraining. My foster Mom says I’m really smart and easy to train. Will work for treats! Interviewer: What do you want in your forever home? Sprinkles: A fenced-in yard where I can run and/or someone to take me on walks! I would love for someone to run around and play with me, but I’m also a really good snuggler. Best of both worlds! Sprinkles likes playing with other dogs, but sometimes she is spunky and plays rougher than they’re interested in. Her foster Mom has found that she is best on her own, but she could do well with another dog who likes to play at her level. She has not been tested with cats. The senior dog in the foster home is not interested in her puppy play, so she’s not with her. She is great with kids! She will need training to learn basic commands and be the best dog that she can be. Sprinkles is working on housetraining. She is quite smart, a quick learner, and does well with a potty routine. Breed: Pit/Boxer Birthday: 12/21/2022 Expected Size Full Grown: 50-70 lbs Fur Color: White with one tan spot above her left eye and one black/tan spot over her right eye Housetraining: Sprinkles is working on house training. She is spayed, age appropriately vaccinated, and microchipped. Apply at pettalesrescue.com View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
