Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Nala
NalaNalaNalaNalaNalaNala

Calling all calico lovers! Here's Nala! This pretty girl would love to find her forever home with you! She came all the way from Texas to find the perfect family. She loves to snuggle on your lap. She even will rub on you until she feels she is getting the standard of petting she deserves! She also really likes to play. Sometimes she has trouble deciding if she she wants pets or rambunctious playtime- so she will do best in a home without small children. Nala really likes the large dog in her foster home and will settle for cuddling with her if no humans are available. However, Nala strongly prefers to be the only cat in the house! Sharing laps and pets with another cat is NOT her thing. She knows she deserves to be the center of attention! Nala is approximately 4 years old, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on all vaccinations. To meet Nala, please go to www.pettalesrescue.com and fill out an application. Her adoption fee is $40. Fezzik
FezzikFezzikFezzikFezzikFezzikFezzik

Meet Fezzik the gentle giant! This sweet 5 year old is looking for a new forever home. He was put outside when his last owner passed away. Fezzik was scared and confused at first, but is back to loving people again. He loves napping, playing, and chasing treats. His favorite thing to do is roll around in cat nip and attempt to act normal about it once he is covered in bits of nip! He is a gentle guy who gets along well with feline foster kitty, Margo, who is also up for adoption! He would likely get along with other kitties with slow and careful introductions. He would also do well as an only kitty. He is neutered, microchipped, fiv negative, and up to date on vaccinations. To meet Fezzik, please go to www.pettalesrescue.com and fill out an application. His adoption fee is $40. View full description »

Champ
ChampChampChampChampChampChamp

MEET THE CHAMP! This precious pittie boy has the cutest black and white coat that is velvety soft—just perfect for petting! He is a great medium size at barely 50lbs and roughly 2 years old. This poor boy was found with many other dogs in an abandoned home in the Flint area. Thankfully, a group of rescuers saved him and his companions from this nightmare and went straight to work vetting and caring for them. Champ was moved into our rescue in order to get some more one-on-one socialization and evaluation that he wasn't able to receive in a shelter environment....and we're so glad he came! Things Champ is great at: -Being handsome -Going potty outside -Playing with toys and keeping himself occupied -Making friends with other dogs -Cuddling and wanting affection from people he loves -Taking treats so sweet and gentle! -Having fun and being playful when you want him to be, but more than willing to be a couch potato when playtime is done! Things Champ needs to work on: -Anxiousness in new situations. -Champ likes the familiarity and comfort of home, and gets quite shy of new places and people. -Meeting new people: Champ has the capacity to love everybody, but he is slow to warm up and trust new people, especially men. He HAS NOT displayed any sort of aggression, just shyness/avoidance and some barking. Once Champ knows you and trusts you, he will be attached at the hip and will reward your patience with unconditional companionship! Due to Champ's shyness with new people, his adoption process may be a bit more drawn-out than usual. He should be given the opportunity to meet with his potential family several times before an adoption can occur. If you're interested in adopting this sweet boy, please be prepared to give him the patience and understanding he deserves! To meet Champ, please go to www.pettalesrescue.com and fill out an application. His adoption fee is $250. View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“It’s been almost 2 months since Connor has come to live with us. His name is now Diesel and has adjusted well. He loves to catch grasshoppers, moles, and chase balls. He also loves to help me in the garden by stealing beans out of my hands as I pick them and running away with my squash. We made him a small agility course because he’s so good at jumping and army crawling. He fits in well as my fourth child. lol! He and my two-year-old fights like brother and sister;) He’s potty trained and knows quite a few commands. He’s a great dog and I believe he loves it here. Thank you so much for our new family member! Oh and he’s gained 15 lbs of muscle in that short time. He’s gonna be a big boy! More to love;)”

– Conner’s New Mom

Connor and his siblings came to Pet Tales Rescue in August 2014. Connor was the smallest of the litter, but the first to figure out how to climb out of the pen while he was being fostered. We are delighted to have his new family share this update on him.

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
