Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Our mission is to match pets with their perfect forever family.

Honey

Honey

Meet Honey, a young, mixed- breed dog from Alabama. We aren't positive but we think Honey is a Miniature Pincher and Dachshund mix. ?We think she is about two years old and she weighs 14 pounds. Her short fur is black and tan. Honey is as sweet as her name! She came to Pet Tales with her seven puppies. She was such a good mom and raised healthy puppies, and now it’s time for her to find her forever home. We don’t have many details about Honey’s past, as she was a stray. However, it appears she may have been mistreated. She is nervous around new people or if being scolded. She is house trained, but sometimes urinates unexpectedly when she is frightened. She has been with us for about eight weeks and she has had much fewer episodes over time. Once she knows you and trust you, all she will want to do is go for walks, get belly rubs, and snuggle! She has been great with our dog; they love to play and take naps together! She has not been around cats, but would most likely do well. It is probably best she go to a home without small children due to being a little skittish, until she becomes comfortable. Honey is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. This sweet little girl is looking for a special person or family, that is understanding of the tough start she’s had on her way to rescue. Is that you? Irwin - VERY smart and loyal

Meet Irwin! Irwin is a four-year-old Border Collie weighing 55 pounds. He was surrendered due to discomfort around a toddler in his previous home, but he is an incredibly smart and devoted companion looking for the right match. Irwin is fully housebroken, crate trained, and knows several commands, including sit, down, roll over, and stay. His intelligence and eagerness to learn make him an excellent candidate for agility or advanced training. His biggest quirk is also one of his greatest strengths—he forms extremely strong bonds with his person and will be your loyal shadow. Irwin travels well, though for longer trips or vet visits, he benefits from a calming medication to ease his nerves. He also has a chicken allergy, so he thrives on a salmon-based kibble diet. Irwin does well other dogs but generally ignores them in favor of interacting with his human(s). We don’t know how he is with kitties! We know small children make Irwin uncomfortable, so he will do best in a home with older (12+) or no children. He is fully vetted—neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and on prevention, and microchipped. If you think Irwin could be the perfect fit for your home, please visit www.pettalesrescue.com to fill out an application! View full description »

Munchkin

Meet Munchkin! Munchkin may have the shortest legs, but he’s got the biggest paws, the biggest appetite, and a big personality! Whether he’s pouncing on a toy or wiggling into your arms for snuggles, Munchkin is guaranteed to steal your heart. Munchkin is part of a litter of seven puppies born January 1st, so the pups are about 9 weeks old. They are terrier mixes - pictures of both mom and dad are included. Based on their current age and weights, they will likely be between 30-50lbs fully grown. They are young so they should be good with dogs, cats, and older children. They’ve all received their first vaccine, heartworm prevention, and have been spayed/neutered. Interested? Apply at pettalesrescue.com! View full description »

Baby, Male, Small

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
