Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Puddles
PuddlesPuddlesPuddlesPuddlesPuddles

Introducing Puddles, the Sweetest Puggle! Puddles is a 6 year old female pug/beagle mix found downtown Grand Rapids as a stray. She gets along great with other dogs, kids and pretty much anyone she meets. She currently lives with a foster family of 2 children (ages 8 & 11) as well as a poodle and chihuahua. Puddles still has some energy and loves to play with toys, but is also very happy just snuggling with her favorite humans! It is unknown if she would get along with cats; however we think she might do just fine with them as she is very easy going. Puddles is crate trained, housebroken, knows basic commands and will do about anything for a treat! She would be a great addition to any family looking for a lower maintenance medium/small pup! If interested in adopting Puddles, please fill out the online application at www.pettalesrescue.com to set up a meet and greet. Her adoption fee is $250.00 View full description »

Donnie
DonnieDonnieDonnieDonnieDonnieDonnie

Introducing Donnie! Donnie is a 75lb 1.5yo pointer/lab/pit mix. He was dumped on a farm near Ann Arbor. Donnie is a very friendly and sweet pup! He’s had lots of people care for him, but so far nobody to love him. He tried his hardest at the farm to make friends and find his “person.” He would bring sticks and rocks to workers to try to get them to play with him. In his foster home, he has discovered tennis balls which is now his favorite thing! Donnie is higher energy. He would do best with a family who could play fetch with him in the yard or take him on daily walks/runs. Given his size and energy level he would do best with older kids. Donnie also should be the only dog in the home. He is curious about the cat in his foster home, but has not shown any signs of aggression. He also does well with chickens. He is crate trained and mostly potty trained. Donnie is ready to join his forever family. He promises to greet you with a big smile and wagging tail! He can’t wait to find the family who will love him the way this sweet boy deserves. Donnie is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. If interested in adopting Donnie, please fill out the online application at www.pettalesrescue.com to set up a meet and greet. His adoption fee is $250.00 View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“It’s been almost 2 months since Connor has come to live with us. His name is now Diesel and has adjusted well. He loves to catch grasshoppers, moles, and chase balls. He also loves to help me in the garden by stealing beans out of my hands as I pick them and running away with my squash. We made him a small agility course because he’s so good at jumping and army crawling. He fits in well as my fourth child. lol! He and my two-year-old fights like brother and sister;) He’s potty trained and knows quite a few commands. He’s a great dog and I believe he loves it here. Thank you so much for our new family member! Oh and he’s gained 15 lbs of muscle in that short time. He’s gonna be a big boy! More to love;)”

– Conner’s New Mom

Connor and his siblings came to Pet Tales Rescue in August 2014. Connor was the smallest of the litter, but the first to figure out how to climb out of the pen while he was being fostered. We are delighted to have his new family share this update on him.

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
