We are a network of foster homes committed to finding loving, permanent families to provide the love, companionship and quality care that every pet deserves.
Pet Tales is a non-profit rescue organization serving the greater West Michigan area. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats left homeless for whatever reason – dogs/cats in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.
We place dogs and cats in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog/cat into their homes and lives.
Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs and cats in distress WITHOUT regard to age, breed, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, we do not turn down the tough or medically fragile cases! We take pride in our willingness to help the truly downtrodden and most needy animals and believe this makes our rescue stand out from so many others.
Because we are a rescue and not a shelter, we do not have a physical location. All of our pets are housed in foster homes and are treated like family. This also gives us the advantage of getting to know each of our pets intimately and being able to provide better details to potential adopters.
On average, we help approximately 500+ animals per year, which doesn’t seem like many until you think about our handful of volunteers balancing lives and volunteering all year long.
One foster pet alone takes numerous hours from transporting to a foster home to the time that foster home spends training and rehabing, driving to and from vet appointments and then, finally, the time spent reviewing applications to find the right home for each one.
We believe in reducing the overpopulation of pets by spaying and neutering, so all of our adoptables are spayed or neutered before heading off to their new homes. Additionally, we want to be involved in our communities to not only raise awareness, but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.
Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010 by some people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They wanted to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. Pet Tales Rescue is a small, all volunteer based rescue located in West Michigan.
We network with many other groups and rescues to optimize our resources and to save as many pets as we can. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes, that provide the love, companionship and quality care that every animal should have. Pet Tales Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization. Although we are small, our goal is to help as many pets as we can.
We work as a community to find, heal, and give homes to pets in need.
