Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Find Your New Best Friend

Our mission is to match pets with their perfect forever family.

Meet Rusty — Your New Best Friend in Training! Rusty is a 4-month-old Pit Bull mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! He’s a sweet, chill pup who’s happiest when he’s by your side — whether it’s going for a walk, sharing a snack, or just hanging out together. Rusty is treat-motivated and already starting to respond to his name. He’s still learning the ropes (especially when it comes to cats — he really wants to play!), but he’s making progress every day. Like any young pup, Rusty has bursts of playful energy and will thrive with someone ready to guide him through puppyhood with patience and training. Great with other dogs and kids, loves kitties but tries to play! Rusty is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and on monthly preventions! Lola is a beautiful brown torbi which means she has the best markings of tabby and tortoiseshell! She has lovely stripes and random spots of caramel color. Her eyes are a light green color. Lola’s owner died and the family threatened to throw her outside! A well intentioned neighbor took her in but their cat did not like her so she spent 6 months in a crate waiting for a rescue. Pet Tales took Lola in this March. She is blossoming in foster care! She LOVES little toys and likes to roll around and bunny kick them. Over night they will be spread all around the room. She’s not quite sure about sitting in a lap yet but she is close. She will sit right next to you and knead your leg or lean on you. She then will stand on you to get closer so she can nuzzle your face. Lola is just starting to meow more when we come into the room. Not loud just little peeps to let you know she wants some love. She loves to be brushed and gives great head butts for attention. Lola has proven to be pretty brave with new people. When her fosters have company she has happily treated them and showed them her toys. Lola is estimated at 2 years of age. She’s not been exposed to dogs or kids but should do well with proper introductions. Lola is spayed, microchipped and has age appropriate vaccines. Espresso was found outdoors spring of 2024 and has quickly adapted to indoor life. She had a liter of kittens July of 2024 and her family surrendered them to rescue for hopes of a better life. Too many pets in the house so she was feeling stressed. Since coming into foster care she has relaxed quite a bit. Espresso is incredibly friendly with people. She will lean in and purr like crazy for head scratches. She can be picked up and will sit on your lap for loving. She is still showing signs of defensiveness around her babies. We’re not sure if this is just towards them or will be towards any cats. She had a dog in her old house and wasn’t bothered by him at all. She would do well to be an only cat and will shower you with affection. If there are other pets a nice slow introduction will be needed. Espresso really likes cat nip and will roll around and be so silly! Espresso is a beautiful solid black cat with light blue/green eyes. She has very soft fur. The vet estimated her age at 4 years old. She’s a petite and lanky girl, currently weighing almost 7 pounds. Perfect size for a nice lap cat! Espresso is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
