Pet Tales Rescue is a network of fosters and volunteers that work to find the perfect homes for animals in need.

Our cats and dogs are housed in foster homes and treated like family. This gives us the advantage of getting to know each one as an individual; once we have an understanding of their specific personality and needs, we can find them the perfect home!

Our mission is to match pets with their perfect forever family.

MEET OAKLEY! Poor Oakley was found abandoned in Flint, and based on his numerous scars it is apparent that he had lived with other dogs and was routinely beaten up on :( Despite what is clearly a horrible past, Oakley is SO gentle and so sweet. He hasn't shown an ounce of aggression or negative temperament since he entered foster care in March. Oakley is VERY scared of the world and extremely shy of new people, so his potential family will need to understand that he takes a couple days to really warm up and approach new people willingly. Once he DOES warm up though, he is the sweetest and move affectionate companion. Oakley would REALLY benefit from having another dog in the home. He gains a lot of confidence from other dogs, and they help him open up to people too. He would do great with kids and cats as well! He is technically crate trained but he will bark occasionally when he's crated. Oakley is housebroken! Oakley is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and highly socialized! Those interested in Oakley should be aware that he'll require multiple meet & greets, so that he can warm up to you and show you how amazing he is! To meet him, head to www.PetTalesRescue.com and fill out an application! View full description »

Ewan

MEET EWAN! This handsome boy will steal your heart with his beautiful eyes; one icy blue and the other a warm amber. Ewan is thought to be a mix of Dutch Shepherd and Husky, but luckily he does not exhibit much prey drive and is not an escape artist! :) Ewan has a GREAT energy level...he is happy and fun when it's time to play, but always ready to relax and nap too! One of the best parts of adopting an adult dog is getting to skip out on all the high-maintenance puppy craziness! Ewan is famous for giving "hugs," and it's sure to melt your heart! When invited to do so, he will gently put his front legs around you and lay his head on you! It's the sweetest hug and one of his most darling traits. Ewan does great with other dogs and enjoys play time. He has been around a few children and done well, but has not lived with any as far as we know. He believe he would do fine with respectful kids. We do not suggest a home with kitties for Ewan. Ewan was found as a stray and never claimed, which is shocking to us considering his wonderful personality. He was heartworm positive and has undergone treatment. Ewan also has a slightly bowed front right leg, which doctor's have concluded was the result of being shot at some point in his life :( Luckily his leg doesn't seem to cause him issue! Ewan is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and socialized! Want to meet Ewan? Head to www.PetTalesRescue.com and fill out an adoption application! View full description »

Oliver
OliverOliverOliverOliverOliverOliver

Meet Oliver! This 23 lb, 5 month old yellow lab/beagle mix is a goofy delight who will likely grow to be closer to the beagle side of things as an adult. Good with other dogs, kids and likely cats too! Some things about Oliver: Loves playing with his foster sister and toys, in the water, and digging. Walks well on a leash. Knows sit and is working on other commands. Middle of his class in puppy mischief. Not a huge fan of the crate as he'd prefer to be with you, but settles quickly with some puppy lullabies and a treat. Does not do well on car rides. They tend to upset his tummy - which gets expressed on both ends. With more exposure to them being for fun adventures I'm sure it will improve. He's a silly boy who is determined and clumsy. Determined and persistent when he sees something he wants. Doesn't mind being handled. Curious and friendly. Potty training has been a bit of a learning curve for him, so he will need frequent access to the outdoors to continue towards success. Would love another playful dog in his new home. Would love to be your forever companion, hiking along the dunes and playing at the beach. Neutered, up to date on shots, and ready to go home with you. Oh, and did I mention that he loves blowing bubbles? ? Give him a pool or a water dish, and he'll soon be diving for treasure. View full description »

Pet overpopulation leads to thousands of unnecessary deaths each year.

We are involved in our communities to not only raise awareness but to be a resource and to help educate in a positive way.

The Pet Tales Journey

1. Rescue

When we’re contacted about an animal in need, we work quickly to determine the best course of action. If that course means coming into our rescue, we mobilize right away to secure the animal and place it safely within a foster home.

4. Sterilization

Spaying and neutering is something we feel very strongly about here at Pet Tales. EVERY animal we take in is fixed (sterilized) prior to finding their new home. We work hard to educate our community about the benefits of neutering their pet, and we believe this type of education is key to reducing pet overpopulation and overall shelter numbers.

2. Foster

Once we’ve successfully placed the pet within a foster home, the road to adoption begins! Their new foster will make sure they’re comfortable, clean, and given ample decompression time. From there, the foster will evaluate their personality and assess their specific needs.

5. Find a Home

The best part of all! Once our foster pets are ready mentally and medically, we begin the process of finding them the perfect forever-home. This begins with potential adopters filling out our online application. Once we have screened the applicant and determined whether their lifestyle seems like a good fit for the desired animal, we set up a meet and greet. If the meetup is successful and both parties are in agreement about adopting the pet, we finalize the adoption!

3. Screening & Treatment

We waste no time having new foster animals seen by a veterinarian! They are thoroughly checked over, tested for various ailments (such as parasites or heartworm), and vaccinated appropriately.

6. Follow Up Support

When you adopt a pet from us, you are NEVER alone! Our ultimate goal is to unite our fosters with their perfect family, and for them to spend a lifetime together. To ensure this goal is met, we will provide continuous support and advice whenever needed, for the life of your pet.

Happy Tales

“This is my little girl Vera. I adopted her from Pet Tales in April 2019. She had the same rough start that Luna had. Pet Tales took great care of her. She had many teeth removed and also one eye. She is spoiled rotten and I love her so much.”

– Pat Clark-Saur

“This is Rozie. We rescued her 5 years ago from Pet Tales. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had. At 1 year old she became part of a pet therapy group called Pet A Pet. We primarily go to Beaumont Hospital – Taylor, MI. She loves visiting the patients. We have been so blessed to have this sweet girl as part of our family. Thank you to Pet Tales for all of the hard work you put into rescuing these animals.”

– Jenny King Baugh

“Our Sweet Peanut….adopted this past summer (2020). An amazingly sweet girl, who loves any and all attention. She has completed our little family more than we could have ever hoped! Thank you so much, Pet Tales for our sweet girl”

– Kevin & Becky Thompson

Pet Tales Rescue was established in 2010…

By people who had spent several years volunteering with other rescues. They decided to take their many years of knowledge and experience out on their own to help find homes for abused and abandoned pets. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes that will provide the love, companionship, and quality care that every animal deserves.
